TruMark Financial Credit Union and partner credit unions are proud to announce the success of their June 2024 collection for Hunger Awareness Month to support Philabundance in their fight against hunger in the Philadelphia area. This year’s event, held on July 12 at Philabundance’s South Philadelphia location, marked the 40th anniversary of Philabundance and the sixth anniversary of collaborative credit union efforts, demonstrating the power of community partnership in addressing food insecurity.
The event brought together numerous credit unions, local legislators, volunteers, and community partners to collect 2,375 pounds of food and monetary donations totaling $21,850, with all contributions going directly to Philabundance. Philabundance collaborates with over 350 community partners to distribute food to those in need across nine counties in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey.
Participating credit unions included TruMark Financial, Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union, Sun East Federal Credit Union, Ukrainian Selfreliance Federal Credit Union, American Heritage Federal Credit Union, Penn Credit Union, Merck Sharp & Dohme Federal Credit Union, Tri County Area Federal Credit Union, Ardent Federal Credit Union, Superior Federal Credit Union, BHCU, Eagle One Federal Credit Union, and Citadel Federal Credit Union.
Kelly Botti, President and CEO of TruMark Financial, expressed her pride in the event’s success: “I feel incredible pride in our continued commitment to community welfare and unity. I am honored to support Philabundance for the sixth year alongside 13 other area credit unions. Helping those around you begins with awareness of essential needs and compassion to create change. We raised $21,850 and collected 2,375 pounds of food, which could not have happened without everyone’s helping hand. Meeting the basic needs of our community is vital, and we thank everyone dedicated to building a stronger and more united community!”
